Sunday 29th August 2010

The club is now in the final stages of the 2010 season and we head this forthcoming Sunday to yet another new venue in the name of Twynersh Fishing Complex. I would like to thank Wadey for organising this one on behalf of the club and I hope for his sake it is a venue worth visiting. Wadey is a semi regular at Twynersh so he will know the ins and outs of the lake so channel all emails to him for this one for any advice. The venue holds the Semi Finals of the two FFC2005 Cups and there will be excitement in the air for those who have fished well enough to still be in them. The Super Cup still has its current holder in the semi's and the UEFA Cup will have a new winner as the final four battle it out which definitely gives an edge as one of them will win a trophy for the first time with FFC2005 - that can only be a good thing and sums up the reason as to why I created the two cups in the first place - it seems my plan actually worked and will be in place again in 2011.

I know nothing about this venue at all but its nice to have one on the doorstep for a change. Unfortunately it is not booked for us to fish in 2011 - however it could still be included as no deposits have been paid for the current venues I have in place and are detailed below. Let's just see how we get on there this weekend because if there are a load of happy faces and nets full of silvers then it's obviously something to consider. The downside to this venue was the strict 5 hour match limit but Wadey negotiated a 6 hour match for us and that is why I went with the booking. I only agreed this due to the minimal travel for the majority of us. I was never going to send us miles away for just 6 hours of fishing so having a local lake seemed fair to go ahead with. It's also why I was reluctant to book again for 2011 at this stage. If we get to the venue on time and draw at the times stated it will actually only mean losing about 45 minutes fishing time based on late draws we have been having of late. I have been flexible with start and finish times as we may be able to get some additional fishing time if we play our cards right.

It seems the cups will go down to the wire this season with the points table now being very keenly contested as well as the weights after Rob suffered a lack of form and those chasing him closed the gap. There is now only a 3 point gap in the points table and a 30lb lead in the weights table so I hoping it goes to the final match of the season for the first time in the clubs history. Previous winners have had it all sewn up by match day seven and even match day six in years gone by. This is a fair venue with no noted 'hot pegs' so pure angling will come through at Twynersh.

PLEASE NOTE - This is a float only match as no ledgering techniques allowed and all nets will be supplied by the venue.

As stated above I have a fixture list in place for 2011 and the majority of the dates and venues are confirmed bookings even though no deposits have been paid. This list has been the most difficult to knock up due to previous venues fished having increased prices, new 5 hour match duration's in place and even the venues being fully booked on the dates we had to choose from based on FFC fixtures and key diary dates etc. There are some new venues and once again old favourites and were simply booked to keep the membership fee at £5 and the match day fee at £10 - also a full days fishing to enjoy. I am hoping that these date suit you all as they have been (once again) extremely well thought out based on what I had in front of me to choose from.
